Phonetic Transliteration
A multi-candidate beam search parser converts Roman phonetic input to Bengali Unicode. Handles vowels, consonants, kar signs, fala, and complex conjuncts (যুক্তাক্ষর).
Smart Candidate Suggestions
Shows up to 5 ranked candidates as you type. Select with 1–5 keys, mouse click, or press Space to commit the top suggestion.
Banglish Fuzzy Matching
Tolerates common Banglish spelling variations.

English Word Preservation

Grapheme-Aware Backspace
Backspace correctly undoes Bengali grapheme clusters — not raw Unicode codepoints. Conjuncts and modifier signs rollback cleanly, leaving zero broken characters.
Strict Auto-Correct Gate
Auto-correct is OFF by default. When enabled, it only applies when confidence ≥ 0.85 with a strict margin over the second candidate. Likhi never silently replaces your text.
Personal Dictionary
Add custom Banglish → Bengali word pairs (names, abbreviations, dialect words). Full add, edit, and delete support via the Settings app.
Native Settings App
A lightweight native Win32 settings application (bangla_settings.exe)
with sidebar navigation for typing preferences, suggestions, dictionary, and more.
P0 Keyboard Compatibility
Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+Z, F1–F12, Numpad, and all system shortcuts pass through natively — Likhi never interferes.
How It Works
Simple as typing.
Likhi runs invisibly in the background as a native Windows Input Method. Switch to it once, and it just works everywhere.
Press Win + Space and select Likhi (লিখি) from the Windows input language menu.
Type Bengali words phonetically using regular English letters. For example: ami ajke bhalo achi
A suggestion bar appears with up to 5 ranked Bengali candidates. The best match is highlighted first.
Press Space to commit the top suggestion, or press 1–5 to pick a specific candidate. Bengali text is inserted into any application.
